덩어리와 얼룩과 아무것도 아닌 것,
깨진 유리 잔해, 싱글채널 영상(7시간), 100장의 포스터, 2019
바닥에 깨진 유리를 늘어놓은 < 덩어리와 얼룩과 아무것도 아닌 것 >(2019)는 중앙에서부터 밀려 떨어진 것처럼 보이고, 다른 한 쪽에서 실시간 재생되는 7시간짜리 영상은 얼음이 점차 녹으며 얼룩의 상태를 지나 아무것도 아닌 것으로 변하는 과정을 보여준다. 깨진 컵의 잔해만 허물처럼 남는다. 하지만 그 시간을 너무 느려서 거의 멈춰있는 것처럼 보이고, 아마 그 누구도 전체의 모습을 볼 수는 없을 것이다. 그렇지만 이는 ‘생략하지 않은 채 끈질기게 앉아 전부를 보게 될 때’(한 숨과 긴 숨)를 기다리는 태도이다. 대신 선별된 100장의 포스터가 제작되었고, 이것을 한 장씩 가진 100명의 사람들은 기억 일부를 나눠가진 일종의 공동체가 될 수 있지 않을까 생각했다.
In the installation “A Blob, a Blot, and a Blank (2019)” broken glass is spread out on the floor, their arrangement suggesting that the glass was pushed outwards from the center until it went over the edge. A 7-hour-long video is playing on the opposite end, which filmed the process of ice melting and becoming a blot, and then the blot disappearing into nothingness. Like the skin left after shedding, broken glass pieces are all that remains. However, the change is so slow that the video is almost like a still image. Most likely, no one will be able to see the whole video beginning to end. Yet, this is the attitude of waiting seen in the phrase “we will perseveringly sit out, without abridging anything, until we see the thing in its entirety” (A Breath and a Very Long Breath). Alternatively, I selected images and made 100 posters from them, hoping that the 100 people, who each own a part of this memory, could form a community of sorts..
