까만 얼굴, 5장의 프로타쥬 드로잉, 2019

어머니에게 아버지의 얼굴을 그려달라고 부탁을 했다. 연필 대신 종이에 눌러 그린 아버지의 얼굴 자국은 복원력 좋은 종이 덕분에 매일 새살이 돋아나듯 차오르면서 점차 희미해졌다. 그 자국이 사라지는 과정을 기록한 것이 5장의 까만 드로잉 < 까만 얼굴 >이다.

My mother drew my father’s portrait on paper. She pushed each line deep and forcefully into the paper as she made the drawing, but the paper was a particularly springy one, so her marks rose up with each passing day, just like a healing wound filling its cavity with new flesh. Day by day, the marks gradually faded out. “An Obscured Face,” consisting of five black drawings, is the record of that disappearance.
